About El Dorado

El Dorado is a conveniently located community in the central region of Mission Viejo, California. Residents enjoy many restaurants, stores, and parks close by.

El Dorado was built by Mission Viejo Company and today has 1,597 single family homes. There are several floor plans with the smallest, Palencia, offering 1,088 square feet and two bedrooms. The Alondra features 1,357 square feet and three bedrooms. All homes have a two-car garage.

The Saddleback Unified School District maintains public education with highly ranked facilities like Montevideo Elementary School, La Paz Intermediate School, and Mission Viejo High School. Several private school options are available with facilities like Sunflower Montessori, Carden Academy, Al Ridah Academy, and Cornerstone Community School. This is also the home of Saddleback College and many other colleges are within an hour’s drive away.

Residents of the city have access to Lake Mission Viejo and its many outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, boating, and paddle boarding. Movie screenings, fireworks, and concerts are held throughout the summer. The two major shopping centers for this region are the Kaleidoscope Courtyards and The Shops at Mission Viejo where you’ll find theaters, restaurants, stores, and entertainment. Mission Hospital, the county’s largest medical facility, is also here.

There are approximately two parks per square mile in this region. This community is close to El Dorado Park, Valyermo Park, Christopher Park, and Marguerite M. O’Neill Park. It’s never hard to find a picnic area or sports field in this region. There are three golf parks in the city including the Casta del Sol Golf Course nearby.

Mission Viejo is comprised of mostly residential areas and is recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation because of its beautiful tree-lined streets. Notable residents include Florence Griffith Joyner, Brian Finneran, Julie Foudy, Brian Goodell, and Eugene F. Lally.
